The Beats Fit Pro earbuds are essentially the Studio Buds with added wingtips. These wingtips are non-removable, which may disappoint fitness enthusiasts who prefer interchangeable parts for cleaning. Nonetheless, the design is attractive and discreet.
The build quality is excellent. The earbuds are made from durable materials to withstand falls and rough surfaces, and they are IPX4-rated for sweat and water resistance, similar to the AirPods Pro, Powerbeats Pro, and Studio Buds.
Design
Design details are meticulously crafted. The iconic B logo is prominent on the multifunction button, the angled sound port enhances fit, and the mic is well-hidden, maintaining a clean look. The earbuds come in bold colors, with white being a favorite.
The compact charging case is a notable feature, resembling a smaller version of the Powerbeats Pro case. It includes the B logo, a pairing button, and a USB-C charging port, though the lid is somewhat flimsy. The earbuds are lightweight, comfortable, and secure due to the flexible wingtips, making them ideal for workouts and daily commutes. They stay in place without causing discomfort and are IPX4-rated for water and sweat resistance.
Comfort and Fit of Beats Fit Pro Earbuds
Apple’s Eartip Fit Test helps size the Beats Fit Pro earbuds correctly. However, the results were less accurate than with AirPods Pro; the test showed a “good seal” even when one earbud was almost falling out.
We were impressed by the Fit Pro’s comfort. Instead of over-ear fixtures like the PowerBeats, they use wingtips, which provide a secure and comfortable fit. These earbuds stay put and won’t slip out unexpectedly.
Getting the right seal can be tricky at first. You need to twist and ‘lock’ them in place, ensuring the wingtip sits under the antihelix (the inner ear flap). Once secure, the seal is decent.
The active noise cancellation (ANC) isn’t the strongest compared to rivals, but the good seal enhances its effectiveness. Multiple tip sizes are included, so experiment to find the best fit.
Control and Digital Assistant:
The Beats Fit Pro offer a reliable control scheme with skin-detection sensors for auto-pause/play, multifunctional buttons, and voice activation. The buttons are tactile and responsive, handling playback, calls, volume, digital assistance, and listening mode activation.
Voice control is a standout feature, especially with “Hey Siri” that activates Apple’s AI assistant when you say the wake word. The earbuds use six microphones and a voice accelerometer to capture and interpret your commands accurately. Google Assistant and Bixby are also supported, though they need to be manually enabled on Android devices via the Beats app.
Each earbud has one button for pausing, playing, and skipping tracks. The default long-press toggles noise cancellation and transparency. There’s no volume rocker, so you need to adjust the volume on your phone or watch, or re-map the long-press function. You can also ask Siri to change the volume if connected to the internet.
The Fit Pro’s automatic pause/play feature when removing an earbud is handy, and their sweat resistance ensures they perform well during workouts.
Sound Quality of Beats Fit Pro Earbuds:
The Beats Fit Pro earbuds deliver strong sound quality with deep bass, ideal for energetic workouts. They feature a 9.5mm transducer that provides a nice balance of frequencies. In standard mode (Adaptive EQ), the buds adjust frequencies in real-time for precise audio. The Fit Pro sound better than the AirPods 3 and original AirPods Pro.
For workouts, the Fit Pro’s low-end performance is excellent. The earbuds offer great stereo separation and crisp high-end sounds. You can customize the sound using over 20 EQ options in the iPhone sound settings. The Beats Fit Pro is the best-sounding wireless earbuds from Apple, offering pronounced bass that makes them fun for workouts. Despite Beats’ reputation for bass-heavy sound, these earbuds deliver clear and balanced audio.
Call quality is decent, with five of six microphones ensuring clear voice transmission, though the volume is slightly lower than speakerphone. While not ideal for professional calls, they are suitable for occasional use.
Overall, the Beats Fit Pro maintain Beats’ signature bass-heavy sound but with better clarity and balance. They perform well in the gym, with expansive sound and features like Spatial Audio enhancing the experience.
Active Noise Cancellation:
The noise cancellation on the Beats Fit Pro earbuds is impressive, comparable to the AirPods Pro. It effectively silences background noise, making it great for working out or relaxing at home. Indoors, it mutes humming, rumbling, loud chatter, and TV noise. Common distractions like doorbells, kitchen appliances, and phone ringers were also reduced. High-frequency sounds, such as whistles and baby cries, were still somewhat audible but managed well.
The Transparency mode is equally effective, allowing you to hear outside sounds clearly. Although you can’t adjust the level of noise you want to hear, the mode picks up external sounds distinctly. For example, you can hear your child laughing from several rooms away or engage in conversations without removing the earbuds. This feature is especially useful during outdoor runs, letting you hear sirens, traffic, and other ambient sounds.
Initially, there were issues with keeping the ANC on, but after adjusting the sensors with silicone, the feature was retested and performed well. The adaptive noise-canceling system adjusts based on surrounding noise, effectively blocking ambient sounds like bus engines and computer fans. However, some users may experience a feeling of cabin pressure and slight white noise, which can be irritating. While the Transparency mode isn’t as natural as that of the AirPods Pro, it still provides a good awareness of your surroundings.
Battery Life:
The Beats Fit Pro offer a solid 6 hours of playback with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on, and up to 7 hours without ANC. The charging case holds an additional 27 to 30 hours, depending on usage, which is more than the industry average of 24 hours found in AirPods Pro and Powerbeats Pro cases.
A full charge provides around a week of exercise or a few days of moderate listening. The Fast-Fuel charging feature adds 1 hour of use after just a 5-minute charge. However, the Fit Pro case does not support wireless charging, a notable downside compared to all AirPods models. Despite this, the case is pocket-sized, larger than the AirPods Pro case but much smaller than the Powerbeats Pro case.
Overall, the battery life of the Fit Pro is comparable to other noise-canceling earbuds, with 6 hours per charge and 18 additional hours from the case. Though it lacks wireless charging, the fast charge feature compensates by providing an hour of listening time with just a 5-minute charge.
